We are looking for:

A Plant Microbiologist for the Novecare Global Business Unit. Syensqo is a global company driven by proud and committed chemists with a historical anchorage in Europe. Syensqo Novecare has an excellent portfolio of surfactants and polymers used in the Agro, Coatings, Industrial, Home and Personal Care markets. 
The focus of this assignment is microbiological control in Syensqo’s North American Novecare plants.  The Plant Microbiologist will be responsible for environmental monitoring, risk assessments, complaint investigations, corrective and preventative actions, cleaning and sanitization, and training of plant personnel .  You will collaborate with both Industrial and R&I functions, and will be expected to encourage a culture of continuous improvement.

We can count on you to:

  • Lead microbial control, cleaning and sanitization, and environmental monitoring (e.g., water system) programs for all Novecare NA plants. 
  • Provide expert guidance during investigations and risk assessments
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce contamination risks and enhance microbiological hygiene
  • Lead training programs and foster microbiological awareness on the plant floor
  • Conduct microbiological testing as necessary to support above responsibilities
  • Communicate adverse trends as appropriate and propose solutions
  • Lead and/or participate in site audits of microbiological best practices
  • Stay up to date with all required site and company safety training programs; actively contribute to maintaining a safe plant environment
  • Monitor emerging microbiology technologies and trends, advising site leadership on opportunities for innovation and improvement
  • Learn safety procedures in Syensqo’s environment, to develop good safety habits and to document every step of their work.
  • This is an onsite position based at Syensqo’s Winder plant and requires travel to other Syensqo NA plants as needed, ~ 25% of the time

You will bring:

  • Minimum B.S degree in a scientific discipline (microbiology or similar field preferred)
  • 5-10 years of experience as a plant microbiologist or closely related role in cosmetic ingredient (preferred), food & beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Strong leadership skills, excellent verbal and written communication, and a strategic approach to driving alignment
  • Knowledge of microbiological testing methodologies (i.e. USP 51,61,62; ISO 11930, method suitability) 
  • Familiarity with typical sources, vectors, and growth patterns of environmental strains of microorganisms

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $90,880 - $113,320/annually. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
