We are looking for:
A qualified Scientist II to aid in the research and development of new specialty and sustainable reagents in the Mining Solutions R&I team for use in the mining industry. The position involves working in a collaborative team environment with R&I Scientists, Engineers, Chemists and field Technical Service & Development (TS&D) teams to develop and commercialize value-added products and technologies through laboratory and field testing.
The global business unit (GBU) of Technology Solutions in Syensqo is a global leader in specialty mining reagents, phosphine-based chemistry, and solutions for the UV stabilization of polymers. Its portfolio includes world-class, leading-edge technologies, and unrivaled technical service and applications expertise that support our customers in developing tailor-made solutions, particularly for mining, where Syensqo’s products allow customers to extract metal concentrates from increasingly more complex and depleted ore sources.
We count on you for:

Define and execute mineral processing research programs

Design and implement appropriate lab and field tests required to validate and commercialize new products

Develop fundamental and application knowledge for current and new products

Propose new ideas and run the required tests for feasibility assessment

Define and perform industrial-scale trials working collaboratively with project team members and customers

Document and effectively communicate research findings, both internally and externally
-
Work collaboratively with peers, project team members, other internal departments (R&I synthesis, Analytical, Manufacturing, Commercial & Sales, Product Management), and customers to achieve innovation targets

Identify opportunities for IP protection, and provide support for patent applications or new product registration

Stay up-to-date with technical literature, industry and technology trends. Participate in strategic professional conferences and present papers

You will bring:

PhD in Mineral Processing or related disciplines. Candidates with a PhD in Surface Chemistry and knowledge of mineral processing are encouraged to apply

A minimum of 3 years mineral processing experience in R&D or industry setting is preferred

Hands-on laboratory experience in flotation is required
-
Capacity to innovate and curiosity towards chemical technologies & products

Good knowledge in one or more of the following areas is preferred: chemistry, mineralogy, colloid and surface chemistry, electrochemistry

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-
Knowledge of experimental design, statistics and data analysis is considered a plus

Ability to teach and coach peers in novel methodologies is desirable

Should be self-motivated and results oriented

Good organizational and prioritization skills to manage the workload and ability to work autonomously

Must be a self-starter and able to multitas

Up to 30% travel required

The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $95,000.00 to $135,000.00 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
