About the role

 

Our Facilities and Operations team supports the safe, reliable, and efficient functioning of site infrastructure and materials management. This department offers significant autonomy and an opportunity to contribute to Solvay’s ongoing reliability and operational excellence initiatives within the North American Peroxides GBU.

 

The Facilities Specialist is responsible for managing the principles and processes involved in the day‑to‑day operations of the Solvay LaPorte, TX Storeroom, while serving as the primary planner for outside maintenance service providers and as the site’s Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO). In this role, you will oversee storeroom operations, personnel, inventory accuracy, external maintenance planning, and site security activities.

 

You will be accountable for:

 

    • Storeroom Operations & Inventory Control: Manage 1 to 2 storehouse clerks supporting receiving, stocking, picking, staging, cycle counting, and record keeping activities. Ensure spare parts are correctly set up with consistent descriptions, properly linked to equipment, and maintained at adequate stocking levels.
    • Procurement & Materials Management: Ensure timely fulfillment of stock purchase orders and process purchase requisitions. Prepare and deliver a monthly storeroom performance report reflecting efficiency, accuracy, and service levels.
    • Maintenance Planning & Scheduling: Plan and schedule preventative maintenance services performed by outside providers, including site weigh scales, fire protection systems, vehicles, and hoists.
    • Security & Compliance Leadership: Function as the Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO), ensuring compliance with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requirements. Handle site guarding coordination and access inquiries as required.
    • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Accounting, Purchasing, Maintenance, Engineering, Manufacturing, corporate teams, contract staff, and external vendors to ensure seamless operations and support site reliability goals.

About you

 

5 years of experience managing a storeroom with an associate’s degree, or 10 years of experience managing a storeroom without a degree. Proficiency in SAP and Excel or Google worksheets is required. Ability to organize and present information to managers, customers, and general audiences, and to work independently across multiple functions with minimal supervision. Must be able to move freely about the plant, including ascending stairs and ladders, and effectively lead contract storehouse personnel.

    • Ability to coordinate external maintenance services while ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

About the pay and benefits

 

Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. The base pay expected for this role is:

 

  • $87,500-$109,000 yearly in the United States. 

 

Your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
