We are looking for: 

 

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Blue Island production department, upholding HSE standards and insuring compliance with HSE policies and procedures. They must be able to create, promote, and sustain operations on shift that are (1) injury-free and environmentally responsible, (2) meets the production demands of the customers and business (i.e. on spec, on time, and on budget), and, (3) encourages and rewards involvement and accomplishment.

 

 

We count on you for: 

 

  • Develop and demonstrate a detailed knowledge of all aspects of the unit operations and utilize this knowledge to solve operational problems and initiate unit improvements. 
  • Maintain and improve plant operations in terms of product quality, raw material and energy usage, maintenance costs, and personnel development. 
  • Possess a working knowledge of human resource policies and union/management issues.
  • Recognize and reward good performance and improve poor performance through coaching, corrective action, and progressive discipline.
  • Maintain close contact with the Operations Manager, keeping him/her informed of issues in the unit so that the appropriate amount of support can be given.
  • Function as Site Incident Commander during emergency situations occurring during night time and weekend hours.
  • Demonstrate awareness of HSE concerns and accept direct accountability for insuring adherence by their shift complement to all HSE standards, plant safety rules, and policies.

 

HSE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Know, communicate, train and enforce all Solvay Life Saving Rules and Transverse Rules
  • fully participate in plant HSE initiatives
  • set safety compliance expectations for production operators; communicate expectations and assure adherence
  • review and sign permits for the production department; assure permit requirements are understood and followed
  • set housekeeping standards for production areas and assure standards are met
  • supervise staff and contractors that are hazardous and universal waste generators to assure compliance with all applicable Solvay, local, and federal requirements
  • assume other responsibilities as outlined in HSE-022 and HSE-056

You will bring:

 

  • Upholds quality standards to conform to ISO 9001, RSPO and EFfCI policies and procedures
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 or 4 year technical degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years chemical plant operating experience
  • Good interpersonal & leadership skills with prior supervisory experience a plus.
  • Ability to interact effectively with hourly workforce, operations management, other supervisors and plant personnel.
  • Understanding of safe work practices, Process Safety Management, Incident investigation techniques, and safety & environmental regulations.
  • Ability to apply practical and/or engineering knowledge to solve plant problems and to implement improvement actions.
  • Ability to assess, prioritize, and resolve production issues.
  • Ability to develop a workforce through reward and recognition, coaching, corrective action and progressive discipline.

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $84,960 to $106,200 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.

The position is on a rotating shift (Night shift: 5:00 pm-5:00 am)
