Thermoplastic Application Engineer
- The mission of the TPC Application Engineering role is to develop the adoption of TPC at selected customers by analyzing their needs and bringing your thermoplastic materials and processing expertise together, relying on different internal resources (product development, pilot and industrial production, quality control) to the technology and manufacturing readiness needed for execution of the application.
- Extensive knowledge of aerospace thermoplastic materials and their consolidation processes a must.
- Leads the application and development of innovative, market leading thermoplastic composite materials and processes for primary aerospace sectors to support the growth of Syensqo business in thermoplastic polymers and composites.
- Part of the Thermoplastic Composites Application Engineering team in Syensqo Materials Composites Global Business Unit.
- To be located remotely but supporting primarily the Northwest USA collaborating closely with Syensqo MBU's (TPC Composites Materials GBU, SpP, and CM).
- Design, develop and improve thermoplastic composites manufacturing processes in Syensqo key markets (particular focus on aerospace sector) in collaboration with Syensqo offices at National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR), Wichita, KS, external institutes, technology partners and our customers.
- Develop processing technologies in alignment with customers' needs - focus on thermoplastic composites and polymers (knowledge and experience in thermosets desirable but not essential).
- Support Syensqo key development strategies in support of its customers and develop testing data and methods with regards to composite and multi-material application technologies with an initial emphasis on new and existing PAEK materials.
- Identify through theoretical and practical considerations, process improvements and development areas in existing processes and validation across multiple manufacturing technologies.
- Contribute in a proactive manner with the planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting of both identified applications and development projects incl. within a collaborative environment of NIAR, Commercial customers, and US Government funded projects.
- Identify and propose intellectual property (IP) opportunities for Syensqo business advantages.
- Drive own technical awareness for advanced and high performance composites and multi-material applications by staying close to market development as well as Syensqo strategic materials development and testing validation.
- Support composite and multi-material design activities and provide expertise on design for manufacture to best utilize differing consolidation and manufacturing technologies.
You will bring: (Education and experience, technical skills, desired behaviors)
- 5+ years’ experience in multiple roles including leadership roles, such as Lead Project Engineer, Engineer Supervisor and Research and Development type Program Management.
- Experience with SolidWorks, AniForm, and proficient with project management suite of software.
- Experince with Thermoplastic Composite processing is a plus.
- Aerospace experience.
You will get:
- The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $103,360 to $129,200 per year.
- Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range.
- Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
