Production Engineer in the Utilities Department (Energy and Water) (F/M/X)

About the role

  • Our team, composed of approximately 50 people, is integrated in the Torrelavega site and focuses on the production and distribution of energy, water and other utilities to the whole industrial complex (Solvay and other companies), in strong collaboration with the other units.
  • As a Production Engineer, you will work on production optimization and project development to support the business needs. You will help to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety topics (reporting, audits). You will get the opportunity to contribute to the competitiveness of our factory and have a positive impact on the decarbonization of our processes.
  • You will be accountable for:
    • Knowing and complying with safety regulations, promoting their respect by all staff.
    • Ensuring the coordination between the HSE department and our Unit.
    • Following up on production performance and proposing initiatives to optimize the process (definition of savings and cost implementation).
    • Preparation of some monthly and annual reports for legal requirements: Energy, CO2, Environmental.
    • Collaboration in audits and regulations updates: CO2, Cogeneration efficiency, QHSE, ISO 50001.
    • Capital investment projects: definition and justification during the CapEx excellence process.
    • Assisting in the development and implementation of capital investment projects and some installation modifications.
    • Participation in continuous improvement projects as Manufacturing Excellence, cost optimization, Digitalization, etc, acting as a change agent. 
    • Support in cost analysis and annual planning of production and costs.
    • Collaboration with other process engineers to implement interactive improvements in the Torrelavega plant.
    • Collaboration in the energy transition plan for the Torrelavega factory.
    • After an initial period of learning, carrying out on-call duties on some weekends.
  • We offer a permanent contract based on an on-site working mode.

 

About you

  • Holds a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering (energy, mechanical, electricaL) or equivalent.
  • 5 years or more of experience in industrial plants. Knowledge of different unit operations (energy production, water treatment) is an added advantage.
  • Competencies:
    • Fluent verbal and writing skills in Spanish and English are mandatory. 
    • Oral and written communication skills at all levels.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability in learning and use tools for process analysis.
    • Knowledge of P&ID (piping and instrumentation diagrams).
  • Behaviors:
    • Achievement-driven, eager to learn, positive and proactive attitude.
    • Team spirit to collaborate with other members of the production unit and other departments.
    • Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness with the ability to work independently.
    • Available for international travel (occasional).

 

About the pay and benefits

  • Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined according to our collective agreement. While the Spanish base pay reasonably expected for this role is 50 to 60 k€/year, your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience.
