About the role

 

Our Treasury Operations team, composed of 9 people, is integrated in the Finance department and focuses on managing the banking relationships and financial transactions in collaboration with all the other departments at our Global Business Services. 

As a Treasury Operation Team Leader, reporting to the GBS Treasury Manager, you will work on proactively managing and executing treasury operations in the EMEA region and In-House-Bank perimeter to support process efficiency and team development. You will get the opportunity to be responsible for the accurate and timely completion of key treasury functions while also managing and mentoring a small, dedicated team of 2 people (Treasury Operation Specialist and a trainee) and have a positive impact on Solvay’s group. 

 

You will be accountable for both Treasury Operations & Execution and Team Management & Leadership: 

  • Daily Cash Management: Oversee and execute all daily cash positioning, ensuring optimal liquidity and funding.

  • Bank Reconciliation: Perform timely and accurate daily and monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations for all treasury accounts. Investigate and resolve all discrepancies promptly.

  • Deal Confirmation & Settlement: Manage the end-to-end processing of all treasury transactions (e.g., foreign exchange, money market, debt). This includes executing trade confirmations, ensuring correct settlement instructions, and monitoring cash movements.

  • Payment Processing: Oversee the execution of all electronic payments, ensuring adherence to internal controls and cut-off times.

  • System Integrity: Maintain the accuracy and integrity of data within the Treasury Management System (TMS) and banking platforms.

  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure all treasury operations activities comply with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements. Assist in quarterly and annual internal/external audits.

  • Mentorship & Coaching: Manage, mentor, and coach the Treasury Operations Analyst (one direct report), providing guidance on daily tasks, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.

  • Workflow Management: Allocate tasks and manage the daily workflow to ensure all operational deadlines are met efficiently and accurately.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and enhance treasury operational processes, controls, and reporting to increase efficiency and mitigate risk.

  • Training: Develop and maintain up-to-date desk procedures for all critical functions and ensure the team is cross-trained.

 

We offer a permanent contract based on a hybrid working mode.

 

About you

Relevant education degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting or Economics. Relevant work experience of 7+ years in corporate treasury operations or a similar financial role.

 

Competencies:

  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding and hands-on experience with core treasury functions: bank reconciliation, payments, and trade settlements (FX, money market, etc.).

  • System Skills: Proficiency with a Treasury Management System (TMS) (e.g., FIS Quantum or SAP Treasury) and various banking portals. Strong Excel skills are required.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage, train, and develop direct reports, even in a small team setting.

About the pay


Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. The base pay expected for this role ranges from:

  • 46,720 EUR and 58,400 EUR per year  in Portugal


Your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
