About the role
Our VAT Service Unit, part of the Global Business Services in Finance SL, is seeking a Senior VAT & Indirect Tax Specialist to join our team in Lisbon.
As a Senior VAT & Indirect Tax Specialist, you will work on VAT compliance, indirect tax advisory and process improvement initiatives to support the Group's tax compliance objectives across multiple European jurisdictions while contributing to operational excellence and continuous improvement.
You will be accountable for:

Prepare and review VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, and Intrastat declarations, ensuring timely and accurate compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Review VAT transactions and invoice compliance, manage VAT corrections, and support VAT account reconciliations and issue resolution.

Support internal and external VAT audits by coordinating documentation, responding to queries, and ensuring audit readiness.

Act as a subject matter expert for VAT and Intrastat matters, providing guidance and resolving complex indirect tax issues.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders, business teams, and external advisors to ensure consistent application of VAT requirements.

Identify and implement process improvements, standardization, and automation initiatives to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.

Support projects and legislative change assessments by analyzing VAT impacts and recommending compliant solutions.
We offer a permanent contract based on hybrid (2 days per week onsite) working mode.
About you
Relevant education degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Tax or Economics.
Relevant work experience (minimum 4-5 years) in Indirect Tax (VAT, EC Sales Lists and Intrastat), preferably in a multinational, SSC or GBS environment.
Competencies:

Solid knowledge of European VAT legislation and cross-border transactions.

Demonstrated ability to solve complex VAT issues and provide practical recommendations.

Fluency in English; additional European languages are considered an asset.

SAP knowledge or equivalent ERP systems and strong Excel skills are highly desirable.

About the pay
Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. The base pay expected for this role is EUR 36,540 to EUR 40,600 per year in Portugal.
Your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
