About the role

 

Our Payroll Operations & Service Delivery team, composed of payroll professionals across multiple countries, is integrated in the Human Resources Service Line and focuses on delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services in collaboration with local HR teams, Finance, external payroll providers, and Solvay's Global Business Services (GBS) organization.

As a Payroll Trainee, you will support the payroll team in delivering accurate and timely payroll services while gaining hands-on experience in payroll administration, employee data management, payroll processing, and compliance activities. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop foundational payroll knowledge and build expertise in payroll operations within a global environment.

In addition to supporting day-to-day payroll activities, the Payroll Trainee will contribute to process improvements, data validation, reporting activities, and payroll compliance initiatives, while ensuring confidentiality and attention to detail in all payroll-related tasks. You will be accountable for:

 

  • Support payroll processing activities, including payroll inputs, timesheet validation, adjustments, deductions, and benefit-related entries.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, employee data, and documentation while handling sensitive employee information with the highest degree of confidentiality.
  • Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, data validation, and compliance with payroll policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide first-line support for payroll inquiries and contribute to month-end and year-end payroll activities.
  • Support payroll reporting, system testing, and continuous process improvement initiatives.

 

We offer an internship (12 months) contract based on hybrid working mode.

 

About you

 

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills, with a willingness to learn payroll processes, systems, and legislation.

  • Basic understanding of payroll, finance, or HR processes.
  • Previous academic, internship, or project experience involving data management or administrative activities, is considered a plus.

About the pay

 

Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined according to academic background. The Internship Allowance for this role is € 940 - € 1040 per month in Portugal.
