We are looking for: 

The Product Stewardship Specialist, Japan will be part of the Consumer and Resources Cluster - Product Stewardship compliance team in the APAC region. The mission of the Product Steward Specialist is to ensure the regulatory compliance of Consumer and Resources clusters’ products in Japan, including new chemicals or product application related registration/license concerning product development, manufacturing and imports/exports of chemical products to Japan.  It will involve working closely with the GBU business unit’s innovation and market teams, toxicologists, others in the product stewardship team and the local authorities to address the Japan region.

 

We count on you for: 

  • Internal Japan compliance management for imported and exported chemical products
  • Verification of regulatory status with all related chemical control regulations (CSCL, ISHL, PDSCL, Fire service law, and PRTR) for existing and new products to Japan
  • Manage and follow up various applications and registrations for chemical control regulations (SVE, LPN, exemption, normal registration, PDSCL registration, etc.), ensure the renewing of such registrations are obtained on time
  • Check and maintain the corrected regulatory status for substances in SAP-EHS system, 
  • Coordinate with global product stewardship operational team and Hazcom team to ensure the compliance of Japanese SDS and Labels
  • Manage regulatory review on customs clearance documents including product chemical information and regulatory status
  • Handle the customer request cases including Chemsherpa, food contact statement, JSQI status and other JP regulatory status questions
  • Work with the global and regional team for the new product or new application development in Japan,provide professional regulatory advice on registration path, timeline and cost 
  • Closely follow up the related emerging regulations in JP, provide impact analysis and communicate with concerned business unit
  • Provide regulatory training to local business, R&I, supply chain colleagues
  • Actively participate in JCII and other Japanese industrial associations

You will bring:

  • MSc or B.Sc in Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals,Environment, Health and Safety or equivalent related to chemical industry

    Experience

  • 3-5 years experience or understanding of regulatory affairs or product safety in the chemical sector is desirable. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to effectively communicate regulatory requirements and strategies.

  • Very good verbal and written English level required for working a global team. 

  • Strong critical and logical thinker with ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions

  • Exercises sound judgment. Demonstrates an ability to make appropriate decisions on regulatory activities and work outputs. Performs duties with the highest ethical standards.

  • Customer & Service Orientation: Desire to provide excellent customer services to build long-lasting relationships.                         

  • Collaboration: High ability to work within a team and with other teams, to contribute to the success of the team, to promote its work and oriented towards results.

  • Open-Mindedness & Initiative: Able to researching and gathering information while working in a worldwide  & cross-functional environment
