About the role

  • Our EMEA Project team, composed of 12 people, is integrated in the Group Engineering and Construction (GEC) department and focuses on engineering and delivering capital investment projects in collaboration with Engineering contractors and Solvay Business units.

  • As an Industrial Project Manager based in Italy, you will work on managing assigned projects, interfacing with Global Business Unit (GBU) management throughout project implementation, and communicating progress to the Project Steering Committee to support the Project Director. You will get the opportunity to contribute to the complete lifecycle of industrial investment projects in Solvay's manufacturing facilities and have a positive impact on project safety goals, regulatory requirements, budget, and schedule duration.

  • You will be accountable for:

    • Ensuring that safety is correctly implemented in the project, both during design and execution, and through construction phases, aligned with GBU host site safe work practices and Corporate Policies.

    • Managing the Engineering, procurement and Construction management resources (internal/external) necessary to support the project (through an EPCm partner most of the time)

    • Appropriating the scope in early project stages (FEL3) and preparing the project execution

    • Managing the capital project objectives including the Safety, costs, schedule, functional group activities, and communication to all levels of the organization.  It includes completing project documentation consistent with Front End Loading (FEL) requirements and best practices.

    • Delivery of the project’s scope of work as agreed to with the sponsoring Business Unit and consistent with the project’s safety goals and protocols, regulatory requirements, established budget and schedule duration.

    • Monitoring and reporting of project progress for safety, quality, scope, cost and schedule, throughout execution and being capable of implementing any corrective actions required.

  • We offer a permanent contract based on a hybrid and travel (50%) working mode.

 

About you

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering. 

  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience in successful project management on large-scale industrial capital projects (20-50 ME) or working within and/or managing international project teams.

  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) or other Project Management certification is a plus.

  • Competencies:

    • Ability to manage project objectives, schedules, and constraints, along with defining capital projects.

    • Ability to prepare and defend a business case justification,

    • Negotiation capability with stakeholders and contractors

    • Possessing strong Construction management and HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) experience, with a proven ability to lead and manage engineering teams and EPC(m) contractors effectively.

    • Understanding the engineering discipline design sequence and its integration for overall design delivery, as well as integration into downstream construction packages.

    • Fluent command of English and Italian; French is a plus.

  • Behaviors:

About the pay and benefits

  • Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. While the Italy base pay reasonably expected for this role is €73,840.00 to €106,600.00 your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
