About the Role
The Silica GBU strategy is focused on developing innovative products for the tire market and the processes required to manufacture them. More recently, development efforts have concentrated on creating sustainable products and processes with an improved environmental footprint (CO₂ reduction, recycling, bio-based materials, etc.).
To support this momentum, our Aubervilliers Research & Innovation Center is seeking an Analysis and Characterization Engineer to join the Silica R&I team. Reporting to the Analysis Laboratory Manager, you will play a key role in advancing our sustainability-driven development projects.
You will be accountable for :
- Team Management: Lead a team of four laboratory technicians. You will provide technical guidance, support their skills development, and contribute to their career growth.
- Analytical Expertise: Design and perform analyses of silica products and new raw materials, including elemental and functional analyses using techniques such as ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRF, and potentiometry.
- Laboratory Management: Take operational responsibility for the laboratory and its equipment. Develop and implement new analytical methods to support the creation of innovative products.
- Data Analysis & Problem Solving: Interpret experimental results with rigor, analyze complex datasets, and proactively propose solutions to technical challenges.
- Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ): Ensure compliance with HSE and Quality standards and promote their application within the team. Actively participate in 5S initiatives and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Technical Monitoring & Cross-functional Collaboration: Monitor patents and scientific literature relevant to your field of expertise.
We offer a permanent contract with onsite working mode.
About You
You hold a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or an Engineering degree in Chemistry, and have strong expertise in the characterization of mineral materials.
You have at least an initial experience managing a team.
Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of inorganic and/or mineral chemistry.
- Advanced proficiency in analytical characterization techniques, including: ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRF, Potentiometry
- English and french proficiency (written and spoken) is essential, as the role involves communication and report writing in an international environment.

About the pay
Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. The base pay expected for this role is: €45,000 to €62,000.
Your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
