About the role


Our Process Intensification team, composed of 6 people,  is integrated in the global Research & Innovation department and focuses on driving sustainability and innovation in collaboration with internal engineering teams, plant operations and external technology partners.


As a Process Intensification Engineer, you will work on identifying and developing intensified technologies for hydrogen generation and hydrogen-peroxide processes, designing and optimizing energy-efficient equipment, and accelerating technology implementation to support Solvay’s global commitment to sustainable growth. You will get the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge process-safety-compliant solutions and have a positive impact on energy consumption and CO₂ footprint across our chemical operations. You will be accountable for:

  • Screening, evaluating and developing process-intensification technologies for hydrogen generation and related chemistries.

  • Designing and optimizing critical process equipment to cut energy use and operating costs.

  • Leading or supporting pilot and industrial-scale trials with plants and external partners.

  • Ensuring all projects meet process-safety standards and sustainability KPIs.

  • Documenting and sharing best practices to speed up global deployment.


We offer a fixed-term contract based on hybrid working mode.

 

About you


Relevant education degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering. Relevant work experience in process intensification, energy optimization or hydrogen/chemical-process development (≥2 years).


Competencies:

  • Deep knowledge of chemical-engineering principles, thermodynamics and equipment design.

  • Experience with modelling, simulation and data-driven optimization tools (Aspen, COMSOL, Python, etc.).

  • Project-management track record from lab to pilot or industrial scale

About the pay


Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. The base pay expected for this role is:

  • CNY 320,240 - CNY 531,800 per year in Shanghai, China


Your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
