About the role
Our Legal department is a strategic pillar of Solvay’s global transformation. Reporting to the Senior Legal Director – Global Legal Services and acting as a vital member of the regional cross-functional leadership team, the Head of Legal Services, Asia Pacific will be an inspirational leader and business partner who leads through influence and by example. In this role, you will lead a small team of legal professionals across the Asia Pacific region to execute Solvay’s strategic legal agenda. You will navigate complex geopolitical landscapes and industrial trends, ensuring our legal strategy aligns with Solvay’s vision of sustainable growth. You will be accountable for:
- Strategic Execution: Executing the regional legal strategy to support Solvay’s growth in Asia Pacific, considering broader industry shifts and public sentiment.
- Leadership: Leading a small, multi-jurisdictional team, fostering an environment where different perspectives drive innovative legal solutions.
- Delivering legal excellence: Acting as a trusted advisor to the regional leadership, delivering a broad range of legal services helping to guide Solvay’s industrial and commercial footprint in the region.
- Risk & Governance: Assessing complex risks in a shifting regulatory landscape, particularly regarding environmental stewardship, trade, and corporate integrity.
- Innovation: Collaborating with global teams to protect our intellectual property and navigate complex partnerships in the region.
Solvay will be prioritizing applicants who have a current right to work in Shanghai China and do not require company sponsorship of a visa. We offer a permanent contract with a hybrid work set-up.
About You
We are looking for an action-oriented leader who is committed to advocating for Solvay, our partners, and the societies in which we operate.
Qualifications:
- Education: A Master’s degree in Law or equivalent professional practice is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 12 years of legal experience, with a significant focus on the Asia Pacific region and able to deliver a broad range of legal advice and documents across commercial, corporate, M&A and Intellectual Property matters (patents, licensing agreements, etc.).
- Leadership: A proven track record with at least 5 years of experience of building and leading regional legal departments in an international environment.
- Credentials: Authorized to practice law in China.

About the Pay
Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. The base pay expected for this role in China is CNY 1,113,520 to 1,391,900.
Your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
