About the role
Our Global Trade team, composed of 15 professionals, is integrated in the Global Trade department and focuses on trade compliance and operational excellence in collaboration with Legal, Procurement, Supply Chain, and HSE. Led by the Head of Global Trade, the function includes an 8-person Trade Compliance team focusing on customs rules and digital innovation, a 5-person Export Control and Sanctions (ECS) team, and a dedicated Project Manager responsible for global trade transformation projects.
As a Customs Specialist for Greater China, you will ensure the highest level of compliance with local customs and trade regulations. You will lead and support regional and global customs initiatives aimed at optimizing trade lane performance, establishing a robust governance model and mitigating the risks in trade compliance. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape our long-term global trade strategy and drive high-impact priorities. You will be accountable for:
- Monitor regulatory updates, roll out global & regional trade policies and SOPs, conduct regular compliance monitoring and support internal & external trade compliance audits
- Oversee core customs technical work including commodity classification, origin ruling, valuation, special customs procedures and import & export clearance
- Partner with Regional GT Manager to develop AEO & duty-saving programs, and align cross-functional trade activities with internal stakeholders under One Solvay standards
- Lead regional and global digital transformation of customs processes and upgrade trade operation systems
- Generate compliance performance reports and risk exposure KPIs to support trade risk governance and business decision-making

About you
Relevant education degree or equivalent in Bachelor’s or master’s degree in International Trade, Law, Supply Chain, Business Management or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in customs import & export operation, customs compliance or global trade.
Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of Greater China customs rules and full import & export declaration logistics
- Fluent English communication and resume writing capability
- Hands-on experience in trade digitalization, SAP/GTS operation and cross-functional project delivery

About the pay
Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. The base pay expected for this role is:
- ¥ RMB 122,400 - ¥ RMB 191,700 per year in Shanghai, China
Your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
