About the role

  • Our Chicago Heights – Silica team, composed of 43 people, is integrated in the Silica department and focuses on the production and delivery of quality Silica products in collaboration with our Solvay support teams and General Business Unit executive leadership
  • As the Operations Manager of our Chicago Heights facility, you will provide leadership, direction, and support to the Silica Production team to enable the facility to be a safe place to work, operationally successful, profitable in its market, a leader in its technology and world class in its methods. You will get the opportunity to contribute to the strong Silica business and have a positive impact on the site's operations.
  • You will be accountable to:
    • Overseeing all aspects of silica production including safety systems, manufacturing, engineering, raw materials, process control, Union Operators and information systems for the silica production functions and data gathering on-site. 
    • Ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of products and services to clients. 
    • Developing and implements policies and procedures
    • Determining work force requirements
    • Monitoring production to ensure customer requirements are met
  • We offer an onsite, full time position with travel as required by the business – typically < 10%.

 

About you

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent and operational manufacturing knowledge are required
  • Relevant work experience in the chemical industry 
  • Competencies:
    • Understanding of manufacturing practices 
    • Understanding of labor relations to enable successful interaction and negotiation with the union. 
    • Proven ability to implement manufacturing excellence to continually improve operations and safety.  
  • Behaviors:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate global reporting and presentation requirements.
    • Organizational leadership skills to enable progression planning and subordinate development.
    • Ability to make decisions under pressure

 

About the pay and benefits

  • Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. While the United States base pay reasonably expected for this role is $120,000 to $150,000, your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
